James Wan's Aquaman easily outswam the competition at the North American box office this weekend, bringing in $67.4-Million and taking its domestic total up to $72-Million.
The James Wan DC flick topped the likes of Disney's Mary Poppins Returns and Paramount Pictures' Bumblebee spinoff to emerge king at the box office here at home, a winning streak that is expected to continue on into the Christmas holiday with ease.
Overseas, the King Of Atlantis continues his reign, bringing in $410-Million from multiple markets. Combining these numbers, Aquaman now enjoys a robust worldwide box office total of $483-Million. Fans should expect the undersea adventure to hit half a million very soon!
Aquaman takes place shortly after the events of Zack Snyder's Justice League and sees the titular hero returning to Atlantis in an effort to stop his power hungry brother from starting a war with the surface world. The move bolsters impressive special effects, and does an excellent job expanding on the mythology of the DC Universe in a way never before seen on the big screen.
From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, “Aquaman,” starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be…a king.
Starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Kidman, Ludi Lin, Willem Dafoe and Doloh Lundgren, Aquaman is in theatres now.
