The CW will continue to expand the TV side of the DC Universe.
The network has handed out early renewals to all of their superhero shows, including an eighth season of Arrow, a sixth season of The Flash, fifth seasons to both Supergirl and DC's Legends Of Tomorrow and a third season to newest entry Black Lightning.
The network made the announcement today at the Television Critics Association press tour, with many fans coming off as not that surprised given that next year's DC TV crossover event was teased back in December following the conclusion of the hugely successfully Elseworlds story.
"This season, we expanded our primetime schedule to six nights with the addition of Sunday -- which has been an unqualified success for the network, our affiliates and our advertisers. In addition to growing our schedule across the week, we also continue to add more year-round programming. The early renewal of these signature CW series gives us a head start on laying out the 2019-2020 season, and this is just the beginning," network president Marc Pedowitz said in a statement. "These shows provide a strong foundation for our multiplatform programming strategy, and we look forward to building on this with even more returning and new shows as we approach the May upfront."
Other shows to get renewed by The CW today included Riverdale, Supernatural, Dynasty, Legacies and Charmed respectively. Currently, no decisions have been made regarding possible renewal of All American and midseason series Roswell, New Mexico.
Jane The Virgin, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and iZombie will all be ending, making room for new pilots in contention for a series pick-up including Batwoman, and spinoffs for both Riverdale and Jane The Virgin respectively. What do you think, Infinite Earths fans?
Are you happy to see these shows returning for another year?
